What a busy fall this is. I missed a September update! So - what have I been up to?
I will be performing this coming Monday, October 13th in Opening Night of TAPNYC'S 30th season in MISFITS. (GO HERE) I play a Southern housewife, Betty Jean Landry, who is justttt a little stressed after a horrific discovery.
Up next is Rising Sun Performance Company's 25 Hour Play Festival, Childen are Terrifying, on 10/25 (GO HERE NOW!) We will be meeting up on the evening of the 24th, with playwrights and directors to create brand new works based on terrifying things children have said and done. Should be an excellent evening, just in time for HALLOWEEN!
Last but certainly not least is my solo show ELIZABETHS which I have been on about non stop for a while now, but it's only one month away! I have been working hard with my director, Marissa Wolf, who is brilliant and so wonderful to have in the room collaborating on this piece of work. It occurs November 11th at 7:30 at the United Solo Theater Festival. (LAST ONE, GO HERE!)
Otherwise, I have seen a couple of other solo shows I feel compelled to tell about! Both are a part of Barrow Street Theatre's exciting fall season. First was Belfast Blues, which has ended its run already, but was a fantastically moving, well crafted show written and performed by Geraldine Hughes and directed by Carol Kane. If it returns to NYC anytime, definitely go see.
Second is Riding the Midnight Express with Billy Hayes. It is running through November 30th, so be sure not to miss this one! Billy Hayes is the man who the movie, Midnight Express, is based on. He tells his compelling true story of escape from a Turkish Prison. If you've seen the movie, don't be dissuaded into thinking you already know the whole story - Billy in reality is an incredibly enlightened man whose yoga helped him survive the harrowing experience. It is quite a tale- hard to believe it's true but it most certainly is. The 70's sure were a different time! Visit (okay one more) www.barrowstreettheatre.com for more info.
Hmm what more to say...I am almost through my instagram challenge of #100happydays, have been self submitting and getting really interesting auditions, meeting new folks, reading Gone Girl and Wild (*~books made into movies bonanza~*), catching up with friends, and enjoying the fall in general.
More updates soon! Hope to see you at my shows!
